Copenhagen

The Copenhagen region offers a wealth of cultural attractions as well as fantastic natural surroundings, with many forests and beaches. Copenhagen is the cool, cultural and cosmopolitan capital. You'll discover exciting contrasts everywhere; no matter where you go in and around the capital, you will both feel the thrill of history and experience the very latest in fashion, architecture, theatre, gastronomy and much more. No wonder Copenhagen is known as one of the world’s most attractive cities – it truly has it all: a spell-binding urban pulse, attractions of the highest quality, a rich cultural life and peaceful oases. The city is surrounded by water and nature, so you can look forward to varied experiences within quite short distances – like enjoying the city sights in the morning and lying on the beach in the afternoon.

Odense

On the island of Funen you will find the city of Odense, home town of the writer Hans Christian Andersen. The city is located just 1 h 15 min by train from Copenhagen, and is definitely worth a visit. Odense is a town with Lilliputian streets and a fairy-tale feel about it; indeed, the whole city is under the spell of Hans Christian Andersen, whose childhood home forms the heart of the museum H. C. Andersen's House, where you can see intriguing exhibitions on his life and work. The new cultural centre Fyrtøjet (The Tinder Box) brings the fairy tale to life for visitors of all ages. But Odense is also a city and cultural centre with museums, theatres and music venues, as well as a thriving commercial centre. Brandts Klædefabrik is a cultural centre containing art galleries, a museum of photography, cafés, cinemas, and more. Near the ‘Koncerthuset’ concert hall is Carl Nielsen's Museum, dedicated to the composer, while the open-air museum of Funen Village transports us back to a bygone age.

Copenhagen gets tasty – ENJOY!

Open Sandwich Festival and Lobster Party. Enjoy a luxury food exhibition and gourmet dining at a fraction of the price you’d normally expect to pay. Just roll up your sleeves and put the napkin on your lap to appreciate the culinary experiences on offer when the city gets ready for Copenhagen Cooking.

Copenhagen Cooking, the biggest food festival in Scandinavia is a tribute to the Nordic kitchen and food traditions with special focus placed on the excellent local ‘raw materials’. The festival was launched last year and was a tremendous success. This year the organizers, Wonderful Copenhagen in cooperation with Tivoli, Eat 06 and Copenhagen’s top restaurants, hope for even more visitors when the city puts all its chefs and food artists into work from the 24th August – 3rd September. EAT 06 is an exhibition which is based on quality and organic food and takes place during the festival.

Temptation for people who enjoy life
Throughout the week, irresistible mouthwatering temptations are served in some of the best restaurants in town as well as outside in the city’s streets and squares. Tivoli offers very tasty experiences, food competitions, open kitchens and the nomination of the Tivoli Cake of The Year. People who live life to the full really have something to look forward to during the weekends. The best producers and specialists in food and wine gather in the Øksnehallen exhibition hall for EAT 06, which pays a tribute to good taste and, without compromise, quality food. During the last days of the festival the Carlsberg brew master, Jens Eiken, opens the doors to an evening where gourmet food and beer are proved to compliment one another. If you arrive a little early it is possible for you to have a guided tour of the Carlsberg Visitors Centre to see how beer is produced.    Fittingly the tour includes beer tasting.
